SOooo... whats next?

hi everyone.. I was just passing by and thought "I wonder whats next for Ots and the Ots community?" I know they are coming out with a new A.I. derived playout system (interesting in its own right) and, so, what about those who are still using the old system? (I, for one don't trust A.I. and thought I'd wait a little bit to see where this all goes) and, of course, what does everyone expect (or will be expecting) to come out of all this new thing?  I mention this all as a constructive criticism and in a healthy curious environment.

I have been thinking as well, wondering what it will bring and more importantly when.
I really don't know what to expect Zath, judging by what was said Major change and mentions of Mac And Linux. As Stated it will not be ready before 2027 at the earliest.

It will really depend on which direction they go. If they go the DJ route, I'm not intrested, and there's lots of good DJ packages on the market with many, many more features, so it would have to blow your socks off right out of the box to claw back any marketplace.

Similarly, for TV/radio use, it would have to be absolutely amazing to win a niche in an already software-clogged marketplace. My terrestrial station in Tamworth has been using automation software for many years, at a considerable cost. But, it does everything from the playout side, plus all of the back-end reporting, logging, billing - a complete turn-key solution. I cannot believe that Ots will come even close to the big players in this field either.

So my guess is that it will probably get a "pretty face" upgrade (long overdue), maybe better streaming support and perhaps higher resolution video (up to 4k?).

Sadly, unless I am way off the mark, it will be too little, too late. Unless it creates major problems, I will still continue to use it on my home system, but even there, I turn off its DSP and use BreakawayOne for both DSP and streaming, so it really is just a playout system, just like good old Winamp all those years ago.

Good points Milky, It is hard to see what impression it could make on the current Market. If the intention is to be so good and add something special to the current market Why didn't they do it when they had momentum, loyal users, and a unique DSP engine?
Ots would need to be astonishingly good to make even a dent now.

Given that OTS has changed hands more than once during and post-that timeline, I'd say it wasn't exactly on the board at the time.

But I'm with you, Jigger - they're gonna have to come out guns blazing in order to return to their glory days.

WOW! such interesting (and unexpected) points of view here!  I, too, pretty much "given up" on Ots some time ago, but felt: "since I BOUGHT it, I might as well USE it" and, therefore, I still do [use] Ots. (all the years of issues and, in the end, its still has many more that need solving...)  I am fast-approaching the END of this game of broadcasting (I CAN still do it via FM and web-based, but its really no longer worth it- even if I never earned a single CENT from doing it; it was just a hobby- but even THAT has lost its luster a long long time ago. (I only do it, now, just to have SOMEthing to do- otherwise its a bullet for me!))

Now, with the age of A.I. and all that, well, by 2027 beyond, the A.I. bubble will have burst... and probably it will simply become a tie-down (pay Otscorp again and again and it MAY stay working... until the servers either become overloaded or too costly to keep up)  just MY opinion. I think there should be a push BACK to "physical media and local [own] control of it" (the current model shows the OPPOSITE;  you pay for ACCESS to your OWN media! Computers crash, operating systems crash, etc.. and they LIKE it that way... means you have to re-purchase access over and over PLUS the media itself, of course!)

maybe I'm just becoming a tired [bitter[ old man (well, I always have been!)
