I'm only using it as a controller. I've never used old school mode.

The MC3000 has a crossfader and the output from Ots AV goes pre-mixed into one channel on my Bose ToneMatch mixer - I've never had any use for Old School mode - that and there was no Old School Mode in Ots Juke when I got it!

Does anyone know how to get a Numark Mixdeck Express working with OTS?

Flippant answer: Plug it in and write an OHML file.

Serious answer: Check the specs in the Manual first (they are all online so you don't have to buy it before you work out what it can do).  Compare its functionality to one of the controllers that Ots labs wrote an OHML file for and decide whether you want to take the plunge.  PLug it into your computer, run OtsAV and configure it to use the controller with a copy of the nearest matching OHML file and start pressing buttons and turning knobs and see what comes out of the controller in the Ots AV MIDI Hardware Configuration dialog box debug MIDI field.  From there you can start to replace the original values in the Ots OHML file with the corresponding values from your controller - test the functionality works to your satisfaction then repeat for all the other controls.   Finally find the MIDI commands to turn on/off the lights on your controller and update the OHML with those MIDI values.

Now the good bit: We are more than happy to help you with this process should you decide to go ahead.  There are other threads on here where we have given users a kick start and they've gone off and produced whole new OHML files.  You could be the next - they are a little fiddly, but not seriously complicated.

yeah a friend of mine was dj ing in the other suite at my regular hotel on saturday, and he had an mc6000 with VDJ,,, must say its a nice unit, looked smart...

I've been using this setup for a year and 1/2. I use Ots for what it's good for, the listening half of the night.
Then I dash out and open Virtual DJ and mix for the rest of the night. The compressor/limitor isn't good, but I don't care, I control the volume myself. That's what we did prior to Ots anyway. The beat grid isn't 100% on some tracks, but I don't care, I use the pitch control like I always did prior to going with Ots in 2001 anyway.
I get to actually control my music again. I also enjoy using the "compatible" feature to find my next song. And on the MC6000 controller, I love using the effects and looping.

The Denon DN MC6000 is a great unit. I'm anxiously awaiting to be able to use it with Ots too. There's only a few things I like about Esperance, but I figure I won't go backwards because it will be paired with the MC6000 soon enough.

I notice that I wrote that in August of last year. I'm glad I didn't actually wait for this to happen. I forced myself to learn everything about the 6000 with Virtual. Looping, Beat grid, sorting easily by the year, key, bpm, or whatever else I want. There is the sound effect section that allows me to remix music live. About 6 or 7 of those I use every night. I enjoy having full control of my music with the controller. The tempo/key/BPM all sound great. The list goes on. Everyone used to say "if Ots doen't do it all for you then move on". I did and I'm so glad I did.

I can't wait for support for the MC6000 (hopefully before I retire) Tongue

Ots stated it would happen in the next major release after Esperance. I just wonder how many maintenance releases will occur before the next "major" release. This August will mark 3 years since the release of the MC6000. I realize Ots has to re-code their software for 48khz interfacing, but how long? I understand they strive for stability and reliability and I do appreciate that. It's just frustrating lugging heavy gear around gig after gig knowing that I could shave off about 12 pounds of weight by replacing my mixer/controller with the 6000. I tried Traktor but couldn't stand the "sound" of it at a live gig, so I had to go back to Ots. They definitely spoiled me with the Intelligent fading and the Dynamic Compressor. I've considered trying Traktor with Breakaway DJ, but I don't really want to abandon Ots. Ots is not for the impatient person Tongue

OK, done venting for now. I will rejoice the day Ots supports the MC6000 and I will throw a HUGE party IF Ots ever supports Mac! (I know, not likely).

Going on the features my last Denon controller worked with Ots (without changing code), I doubt Ots will be very useful with the 6000. To be honest, if Ots would allow the use of their audio engine with other software, I would have stopped using it years ago. When I went digital early on, I wasn't thinking about the fact that Ots would become the DJ and I would end up clicking play..no creativity. Since adding Virtual, I feel a connection with my crowd again.

That is how I feel about Traktor. I just wish I could get that "sound" out of other software that Ots has (agc and compressor)

That's the problem because there is no one perfect software.
