Hey everyone, I have a tricky event coming up where they have about 25 songs they want to start all at different times in the songs. Now, I was wondering if there is some way when I fade out one song it drags the next song up at 00:14 into the song thats being loaded? If not ill have to do this on the fly, but I was wondering if there was an easier way? Thanks,

This is quite easy - I've done it several times.

Answer: Create an item reference and separate the ACI chunk and edit to your needs.
Caveat: Only works with Ots Album files - not with mp3 files.

Steps:

1. Open the album containing the item you wish to create an 'edit' of in Ots Studio (Tip: You can double click in the media library and use the Edit button).

2. Right click the item you wish to create an edit of and chose "Clone Item (Using References to Existing Chunks)".

3. Choose yes when prompted to double check what you are doing.  A new item will be created (Example I used "Big Fish Little Fish" by Bob The Builder - the new item is called "Big Fish Little Fish [Edit]"

At this point you have two identical items in the Ots Album file - the [Edit] item references all of the chunks from the original (i.e. the data is not duplicated - the audio data, audio control information (ACI), video data etc. are only in stored once in the album).

4. Right click on the Audio Control Info chunk for the [Edit] item and choose "Unlink (Create Unique Chunk for this Reference)".

You now have a separate copy of the ACI chunk.

5. Edit the ACI chunk with the new Intro Trim Point/Intro Reference Point/etc. to give the edited version (starting and finishing where you want).

6. Save the Ots Album file.

7. Refresh the file in OtsAV (from the media library item you can double click and choose refresh from file, or you can refresh files/folders from the File -> Media Library menu).

8. Put the new [Edit] item into the playlist and it will play from the new start point every time.

9. Don't forget to save the Media Library.

Have fun,
Darryl.
