Whats your tear jearker?
- Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks
- Kiss and Say Goodbye - The Manhattans
- The Sun Ain't [sic] Gonna Shine Anymore - Walker Brothers
- Oh My Darling - Lucky Blondo
Any music moves me, sometimes to tears. Poetry can do the same. Remember the poem "Stop The Clocks" by W. H Auden that was recited in the movie "Four Weddings And A Funeral". THAT will get me every time.
I second Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun. Roxy Music - On My Radio used to get me when I was little (not any more for some reason). Rolf Harris - Two Little Boys puts a lump in the throat - but I think Terry Jacks wins it.
And I've just remebered Brotherhood of Man - Save your Kisses (just the last line).
Have fun,
Darryl.
I'll third on seasons in the sun. And second on the Auden poem and Rolf Harris' Two Little Boys.
I can't think of any other songs at the moment. There are a lot of songs that might get to me if I hear them at the right moment. Context is often everything.
It's not a song, but something I can't read aloud is The Gift of the Magi by O'Henry. Tried to do it for Christmas last year to play on the air. Couldn't get through it. Had to google up someone else reading it.
One that gets me every time, and always has, is "Crazy Love" by Poco.
Another is "I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis.
Another is "Photographs and Memories" by Jim Croce.
I just remembered a couple. Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel, and Old Friend by Chris De Burgh. They don't get to me every time, but when I'm in the right mindset they do.
A couple of old country songs:-
Teddy Bear - Red Sovine
Old Tige - Jim Reeves
Ringo - Lorne Greene
I know a song that will make Lane cry....
don't you dare go there brian! :P
:icon_lol: :stuart: :icon_lol: :stuart:
Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is
Chris Rea - Tell Me there's a heaven, played it on the radio last week had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye .

"The Boxer" and "Bridge over Troubled Waters" - Simon and Garfunkel
those can get to me when I'm feeling solemn

"S.O.S." - Dr Bombay (yeah, I donno how either!)

I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins
There's also a remix of Styx's "Show Me The Way" that was made at the beginning of Operation Desert Storm that was distributed to radio stations when the troops went into Kuwait that always breaks me when I hear it to this day.
I got a few more...
"Illusion" - VNV Nation
"Fix You" - Coldplay
"How To Save a Life" - The Fray
"The Longing Goes Away" - The Frogs
Here's a new one by Gord Bamford "My daughter's Father" that will get dads this year.
Here is the YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fdeyEJ1s_k
Part of the video was filmed live at the CFR here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw. I will never forget sitting in my car reviewing this single. I thought it was gonna be just another ballad. Boy was I wrong!
I'd have to second Don't take the girl, but that Gord Bamford tracks right there too!
The little girl reminds me sooo much of my oldest daughter at that age.
It's amazing how time flies, as that only seems like a year ago, yet it was nearly a dozen.
Okay..
Time to play devil's advacate here for a sec...
