Playing my slide show instead of a music video.

Greetings:

Trying to figure this part out. I know it plays my slide show when I play a mp3 and not a video. I know I can do the Control shift option v and get it to show my desktop backdrop if I want to cut out of a video. However, is there a way I can shift it to a slide show even with a video playing.

So say I'm playing a video, in the middle of the video I want to switch to the slide show, then switch back to the video when it is done. Is that currently possible?

The Slideshow feature is used to display still images when Video/CD+G content is not being played.

That is what the help guide says so I'm assuming I can't do this, but if someone has a work around that would be great. If not I'm going to have to constantly change my desk top background to simulate that, and that is just a lot of work for what I'm trying to accomplish, either that Or I'll just need to come up with songs to enable the slide show that are MP3. Problem is that I use OTS for mostly videos and have very few non videos loaded in it. Oh well.

Press the video blanking button on your midi controller. If you don't have a midi controller you can still use the midi interface but you'll need to make an extra tool to give you virtual midi buttons.

Here is a feature request I submitted a while ago, I think it is what you are asking:

Is it possible to have the video subsystem turn on and off based on content. ie: If there is no video in the OTS file then the video system turns off and then back on again when video content is present. The sync messages can already be suppressed so its nearly there.

This would allow other stuff to be displayed on the screen which seems not possible currently because the overlay stays on regardless of content.
Currently I display a single image in the slide show which is better than nothing but I need to be able to display dynamic stuff from another app.

I run OTSDJ AV unattended so pressing ctrl, Shift, Alt, V each time is not a solution.

OTS responded and took the suggestion seriously so here's hoping it made it to Esperance.

You have to have a midi controller as Darryl has mentioned already to use the video block feature in the current version of Ots Av.

I think Ots Labs do take on board suggestions from their user base.  Whether this functionality will be in Esperance is anybody's guess.

I just use my lap top and hook into their boards and speakers and I just bring a 8th inch to rca cable and a thunderbolt to vga converter for my mac. So, I would have to be able to do this straight from my lap top if I'm going to have any luck. I did buy a DN 6000 that will not be supported till next update, but even with that support I still will not be bringing it to any gigs except my mobile gigs. My regular gigs have mixers and sound system that I just plug into. Any work around thoughts? I would just wait for the update, but I'm sure that is still anyones guess. With no updates except soon, it could be tomorrow or late next year.
