Song Does Not Import into OTS

I have had this happen a number of times. I tried to import three MP3 files which I ripped from a Four Tops CD. Ots inported 1 of the 3 and I can't get it to import the other 2. (By the way, all 3 files play with no problems in iTunes)

I took one of the files that would not import and I put it through Sound Forge and did a "save as" to make a new MP3. I then imported the file into Ots without a problem. I just can't figure out why it wouldn't import in the first place.

I am using OtsAV DJ Pro-Classic+ 1.85.076

You say you were importing them into Ots... Ots what?  Ots AV or Ots Studio?  When importing mp3 into Ots Studio there is a dialog shown at the end of the import process that says how many errors and warnings there were.  If you click on the detailed log button you will get more information.

One reason for failure to import into Ots Studio is an unsupported bit rate - the log information will tell you what caused the failure.  You can copy and paste it into the forum if it doesn't make any sense to you.

Have fun,
Darryl.

I was trying to add the song into the media library of OtsAV DJ Pro-Classic+ 1.85.076.

Did you convert to ots file or did you try to get the mp3 as such. What Darryl wrote applies to converting...whitch is to be preferred...sounds much better.

I tried to add it as an MP3 file. I have about 4000 files in my media library. They are all MP3 files.

I think Ots Studio is a bit more verbose when things go wrong.  If you really want to use mp3s (the benefits of the Ots Album file format are numerous, but it's your choice!) just try importing the mp3 into Ots Studio to see if it gives you a better idea of why it failed to import.

Have fun,
Darryl.

The only files you can play in Ots are WAVs and MPEG Layer 3 MP3 files.

Ots Studio can also import, but not play, WMA files.

MP3 format files need to be MPEG Layer 3 before Ots can even read them.

I'm pretty certain - though somebody might contradict me - that DRM files might have issues as well!

I've found that mp3 files won't import if the private bit is set. I remove the private bit using Cool Edit Pro and then it will import into OTSAV DJ Pro.

I'm using AV Pro and get this error message in the operation log:

error: source file must be mpeg-1 layer2/3 - skipping

I can generally re-save the file using ether Wavepad or Audacity and it will then load but this method does not always work. I have also adjusted the settings, bitrate etc in those respective programs and still had no success at times.

Any Thoughts?

If the bitrate is to low it will not import 96 will not do, 128 or higher preferred
