I have about 80,000 songs, some have been lost (files) plus I have a lot of unused categories along with tons of duplicates music. What is the best way to clean house?
We often get asked about how to find duplicates. Personally I put up with them - hard disk space is so cheap that I don't think there's much point in spending hours looking for duplicates and removing them. There is a utility called Ots Catalog written by one of the forum patrons that might assist you if you insist on removing the duplicates.
If you have a poor quality version of a track that you want to avoid playing, set it's rating to zero and (by default) it wont show up in any searches.
If a file has been deleted, do an easy scan (File -> Import/Refresh Files To Media Library -> Click on Easy Scan) and OtsAV will mark any files that no longer exist as unavailable. You can search for these in the Media Library window using the drop down list to choose "[Unavailable Albums] ^AU". Then you can right click and choose to remove from the Media Library.
With any of these tasks it is important to backup your data first. In particular make a copy of the OML file (see http://docs.otslabs.com/OtsAV/help/using_otsav/media_library/media_library.htm).

lets you sync folders and helps finds duplicates on all hardrives...
it is a nightmare sorting and keeping two setsof files...
mpegs are all stored on external hardrives and ots files on seperate hardrives.
sorry the files above are duplicating and checkin external drives without using explorer for duplicating full drives..

This is something that has been requested in the wish list for a long time, hopefully Ots Labs will add a duplicate file feature in Studio in the next update.
